Bernie Jaye (real name Bernadette Jakowski) is a comics writer, colourist and editor who worked extensively as an editor for Marvel UK in the early 1980s on titles including the Eagle Award-winning The Daredevils, Savage Action, Rampage, Mighty World of Marvel Vol 2 and Marvel Super Heroes, and later as a writer for the same company in the early 1990s on Dark Angel, as well as working for Marvel Comics in the US as colourist on Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. She also wrote Mother Earth for 2000 AD, and worked on both Crisis and Revolver (on the latter, as a letterer on the series Happenstance and Kismet).
Jaye was indisputably one of the principal guiding hands behind Marvel UK's real golden era, and her departure from the company (apparently prompted by disappointment at the cancellation of The Daredevils) was marked by a specially created three-panel strip featuring the clairvoyant Cobweb of the Special Executive (by Alan Moore and Alan Davis) jokingly predicting great things in her future. She still hasn't married Prince Andrew, though she did marry fellow Marvel UK staffer Paul Neary.
