History[]
Obi Wan Kenobi was a Jedi Knight and the former mentor of the evil Darth Vader. Under the alias Ben Kenobi (an impenetrable disguise, to be sure) he brought Vader's infant son Luke Skywalker to the desert world of Tatooine to be raised by his relatives; Kenobi himself retreated into the nearby Dune Sea to live as a hermit while keeping a discreet eye on the boy. When Luke was grown up, Kenobi recruited him to help him rescue te Princess Leia (secretly Luke's sister) from the clutches of the Empire, but Kenobi himself was eventually killed in a lightsabre batte with Darth Vader while buying Luke, the Princess and their allies time to escape. Merging with the cosmic energy field known as the Force, Kenobi became a kind of ghostly presence appearing to Luke in times of need to give him often cryptic advice. Some people just don't know when to leave!
