George William "Billy" Wakefield (1887-1942), credited as G.W Wakefield, was a British comics artist active in the field from around 1906-1942, mostly working for Amalgamated Press on titles such as Comic Cuts, Butterfly, Favourite, Firefly, Larks, Merry & Bright, Puck and Sparkler. He is best known for his work on Film Fun, for which he drew numerous strips based on Joe E Brown, Ben Turpin, Jackie Coogan, Max Miller, Lupino Lane, Wheeler & Wolsey and, most notably, Laurel & Hardy (which he drew from 1930-1942, often with the assistance of his son, artist Terry Wakefield).
